SCHOOLS ADAPTATE

Sharing good practices for sustainable

2022- 2023

The aim of the project is through the active implementation of training and education for environmental sustainability, to contribute to the realization of the European Green Deal priorities, focusing on the importance of providing clean water, clean soil, clean air and biodiversity through formal and non-formal teaching and learning. Through a STEAM approach in the chosen training methods, students' basic skills in STEAM will be promoted, further highlighting the challenges of a healthy environment. Through the project's activities, schools from all partners will create a common digital game on environmental issues, including special activities, projects and exercises in science, information technology, mathematics, engineering and art. The project will involve students from remote rural areas, as well as students with learning difficulties and students whose mental health has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. This will promote diversity and inclusion among students. The main results of the project:
1. Improve teachers' qualifications and students' knowledge and attitudes, as well as bring environmental sustainability issues to the fore;
2. Improve academic performance in STEAM subjects.3. Raise digital and foreign language skills to the highest level by sharing experiences;
4. Increase interest, individual motivation and own initiative in environmental and climate actions.
5. Promote intercultural dialogue, multilingualism, internationalization.
6. Promote student inclusion.
7. Help meet the needs of the 21st century. Project activities and materials highlight essential skills for entering tomorrow's world, such as developing conclusions, cooperative learning, problem solving, questioning, inquiry, problem definition, analysis, interpretation, reasoning and critical thinking.

Portugal Mobility

The third mobility of the project took place in Portugal during the week of May 8th to 12th, 2023. During this week, the participants had the opportunity to get to know the region of Alfândega da Fé a little better, its people, culture, and traditions. Throughout the week, activities related to environmental preservation were carried out, including visits to an organization (CIARA) - Center for environmental interpretation and animal recovery, dedicated to the preservation of birds of prey and the geopark of Macedo de Cavaleiros. The partners also had the chance to explore the city of Bragança and the sustainable building of the municipal council. They also learned about the investments made in the region for water preservation and visited a local village where they were introduced to some sustainability practices. The students also had the opportunity to experience new technologies through a programming workshop and a demonstration by the Spanish partner on the construction of a solar-powered car.

FINAL EVALUATION OF THE PROJECT:

The project proceeded in accordance with the established plan and agreements with the partners. All planned activities were carried out, and the results achieved were very satisfactory. Particularly, the Portuguese partner would like to highlight, on the one hand, the immense competence and excellent organization of the coordinating partner, who guided the entire project execution process excellently. The collaboration between the partners was established efficiently and coordinated. The other partners always proved to be very cooperative and cordial in their relationship with the Alfândega da Fé School. On the other hand, it is also worth noting the impact that this project had on our students and our school. This project allowed 8 students and 4 teachers to participate in international mobilities. The locally conducted activities within the project framework enabled students to develop their English language skills and increased their motivation for learning. This impact resulted in an improvement in their readiness for learning and an awareness of the importance of learning foreign languages. The involvement of the school community and partner institutions was also a very positive aspect, as it involved not only parents, guardians, the municipality, and local institutions but also specific knowledge related to sustainable development. This project also offered an excellent opportunity to showcase our region, particularly the investments made in environmental preservation, as well as our culture and traditions. Locally, the project's theme will continue to be developed through initiatives like "eco-schools," which saw increased participation and demand during the project activities.

Project Advocate Human Rights for a Fairy Land

The project addresses the major subject of human rights, the violation of which, to a lesser or greater extent, is an everyday occurrence in most societies all over the world. Under the umbrella term of 'human rights' we will explore and discuss the concepts of rights and obligations, cultural diversity, and discrimination, stereotypes and prejudice, immigration and, bullying and education of values. Through this project we believe that our students will develop respect towards diverse races, cultures, beliefs and lifestyles and resist the urge to discriminate against people who deviate from the norm- as each society perceives it to be.

Projeto “BE HUMAN, BE ECO: grow in a sustainable environment

Nº 2019-1-IT02-KA229-062258_4

Participantes:

"Nowadays it is witnessed an unconditional exploitation of the environmental resources. The introduction in-kind of toxic substances and the pollution due to the development of human activities, have produced negative consequences, considering both the increase of natural disasters and the high percentage of cases of cancers attached to it.

Because of this it is fought more and more for a “sustainable development” from both an environmental, and social point of view. The sustainability must be INTERGENERATIONAL (requirement for the freedom of future generations’choices  that derives from the environmental entirety) and INTRAGENERATIONAL. The development will be sustainable just considering and satisfying the economic, social and evironmental needs.

The environmental Education, therefore, plays a main and important role in order to sensitise young people , (who are already) in youth, to the strategies that need to be  used  in order to make  the social and economic development to become “compatible” in accordance with both environment and territory.

In order To learn how the relationship ‘Man(Human Being)-Environment’ is changed over the course of the  history of Nations  as well as the respect  for the technological and industrial innovations, it  will be able to  reveal causes of reflection for the research of solutions that may make both the human and social development and the respect for nature  ‘compatible’."

Projeto To bee or not to bee?”,

Nº 2019-1-SI01-KA229-060530_4

Participantes:

Are bees still important in the 21stcentury? Our project team believes they are. Bees are invaluable in several aspects of our lives, from pollination, to food, cosmetics and medicine. Thus the main priority of this project will be to spread awareness of how important bees are to us and how we can save them.

The first meeting, hosted by Slovenia in October 2019, will be dedicated to the tradition of beekeeping in various countries. We will learn more about the roles bees have within a bee family. Furthermore, we will be interested to learn if younger generations are still interested in beekeeping. What can beekeepers do to attract younger people to try their hand at beekeeping?

For our second LTT week in April 2020, we will travel to Portugal. The focus will be on all the various threats and perils that bees face daily. We will attempt to answer a simple question: Can our planet survive without bees? We believe that the extinction of bees will have devastating consequences for our ecosystem.

All through the third meeting, we will look into some possible suggestions and solutions on what we can do to help the bees to survive. The project team is convinced that there are many activities that schools can carry out to actively help bees to survive. The main goal of this meeting will be to make a flower bed and encourage other school to follow our suit. The meeting will be hosted by Poland in October 2020.

The third meeting will be even more creative as we will try out hand at making products out of wax and other bee products. We will also explore if and how we can use honey in cooking. Each participant country will contribute some recipes that will be published in a recipe book. We will also prepare some dishes. The meeting will be held in March 2021 in Romania.

The last meeting will take place in Croatia in June 2021. It will serve as a wrap up of the project. We will finish the short animated film and screen it for the first time. The participants will also display all the products they have created through the project.

At the end of the project, we expect to:

       ·        develop and deepen the awareness of the importance of bees,

       ·        illustrate the use of honey and other bee products,

       ·        actively promote beekeeping, focusing on younger generations,

       ·        come up with suggestions how to motivate younger generations to engage in beekeeping,

       ·        exchange good practices in beekeeping,

       ·        learn about bees’ major threats,

       ·        come up with strategies how we can protect and save the bees.
